Money Saving Tips to reduce your Car Insurance Costs

Insurance is something we hope we never need to use. However every year we spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on insurance. Insurance is something that we must have however we are quite often way over insured. Insurance companies are business’s designed to make money. They have created all kinds of different types of coverage’s that in most cases you really do not need, just so they can get extra premiums. Ask yourself how often have I made a claim and how much money have I spent on insurance over the years.
There are many ways to spend less money on car insurance. All it takes is a little time to review your policy and decide what coverage you actual need and who can best provide it for you. The internet has become a great tool for saving on insurance. All companies are listed on the internet and you can get quotes in minutes. Below are some money saving tips on saving on your car insurance, most of these tips can also be applied while shopping for your home insurance. One thing to remember is never lie to your insurance company to save money, this can end up costing you more or worse have them decline paying a claim if you have one.
Using these simple tips for a 28 year single male with a good driving record, driving a 3 year old Chevy Colbalt I went from a high quote of $2390 to the lowest quote of $1436, that is a saving of $954 a year. Your savings will depend on the coverage and the company you are with now. The company that gave me the best rate of $1436 started at $1993 before I applied these money saving tips. That is a saving of $557 within one company.

Buying Club Pack vs. Regular Size

Do you save money buying Club Pack vs. Regular size items. If you compare the price per once or per item, yes you can save yourself a lot of money. Costco, Sam's Club and other Club stores are a great way to save money. Although you have to buy a membership it can quickly pay for it self with the great saving you can get. Quite often they offer coupons for additional savings. How ever do you really save money? I remember back in the late 80's when these large club pack items started hitting the grocery shelves. They sold like crazy. They offered a great savings for our customer during some tough times. How ever what I also noticed was it did not effect the sales of the regular sized product. We were simply just selling more. Why? The more food you have in your pantry the more you consume. If you buy the large 4lb bag of cookies for $6.99 instead of the regular sized 1lb bag for $2.49 and your kids eat them in the same amount of time did you save any money? Price per lb for the large size is only $1.75 compared to $2.49 for the regular, so they are cheaper but you may consume more. So how much did you save or did you spend an extra $4.50. Club pack is a great way to save however you must have a plan to control consumption. Plan on how you will control the consumption so that you do save money. Do not buy alot of snack foods, they will disappear quickly. Only buy what you really need. If you have to, hide what you buy.
